What We're Reading in August

Is it just me or does August feel like downhill to the rest of the year? It's scary, but at least the passing months mean we have new releases to look forward to! Here are some of our most anticipated reads for August, as well as a couple we plan to tick off our TBR.

WA YA Release

Eva is far from home when everything goes wrong.

And then it gets even worse.

Her evacuation bus leaves her behind, stranded with classmates she barely knows. The chase is on. But South America is big, and the old rules are changing quickly. This is the road trip Eva never knew she needed.

This is the race for the last flight home.

Out August 30

Luca is ready to audition for the Australian Ballet School. All it takes to crush his dreams is one missed step . . . and a broken foot.

Jordan is the gorgeous rowing star and school captain of Luca's new school. Everyone says he's straight - but Luca’s not so sure . . .

As their unlikely bond grows stronger, Luca starts to wonder: who is he without ballet? And is he setting himself up for another heartbreak?

Out August 31

A complicated friendship.

A roadtrip in a stolen car.

The stories that define us.

And two funny, sharp, adventurous young women who refuse to be held back any longer.

Rosa was never really trying to hurt anyone, no matter what they said in court.

But she's ended up in juvenile jail anyway, living her life through books and wondering why her best mate Asheeka disappeared.

A page-turning novel about a complicated friendship; a road trip through NSW in a stolen car; the stories that define us; and two funny, sharp, adventurous young women who refuse to be held back any longer.

WA Author

Samantha Richardson is a bright, young woman who stumbles upon the vampire world through chance. When she meets Grayson Gramaze, her senses are awakened, and she feels an immediate attraction toward him. Samantha is plunged into a world she never knew existed.

Meanwhile, Danielle Castell, sister of Violette, is dealing with complicated feelings of her own, when she bumps into Christian, her crush from months ago. As Danielle and Christian's attraction for each other is awakened and forbidden, Danielle, Samantha and Violette are swept up in a violent and dangerous battle which will change their lives forever.

Long ago Miren O'Malley's family prospered due to a deal struck with the Mer: safety for their ships in return for a child of each generation. But for many years the family have been unable to keep their side of the bargain and have fallen into decline. Miren's grandmother is determined to restore their glory, even at the price of Miren's freedom.

A spellbinding tale of dark family secrets, magic and witches, and creatures of myth and the sea; of strong women and the men who seek to control them.
